At Camp Cherokee we have adopted the ACA slogan "Camp is for the camper." This means that our staff is committed to providing the best, positive experience for each camper. Staff is required and expected to maintain a high level of creativity, energy, enthusiasm, and support for every camper.

 

Staff at Camp Cherokee is comprised of high school and college-age individuals who have a love for kids and a dedication to our camp. Approximately 95 percent of each year's staff are return staff members. All staff participate in an application and interview process before being hired. Once hired, all staff members complete extensive training prior to the camp season. Camp Cherokee maintains a staff-to-camper ratio of 1 to 4.

If you are interested in becoming a staff member at Camp Cherokee, the process is simple. We will be accepting applications from December through Valentine’s day. However, there is only one way to get an application. Please call Camp Director Chet Tucker at 803.329.9622x230 beginning December 1st, 2007. After your application is received and reviewed, you will be contacted by a member of our Administrative Staff to conduct your interview. Pending satisfactory drug test and background check, we will inform you of employment opportunities on our staff by the end of the March. We are always looking for exciting new people and would love to hear how you could be an asset to Camp Cherokee.
